PURCHASING MANAGER WANTED AT MIDTOWN COMICS’ WAREHOUSE IN NEW HYDE PARK, LONG ISLAND!
Enter the fabulous world of comics and work for the premier retailer. In addition to your natural born love of comics, the following are the basic skills required:

Job Description: Plan, direct and coordinate activities of buyers, purchasing officers and related workers involved in purchasing materials, products and services. Includes wholesale or retail trade merchandising managers and procurement managers. Will head the inventory control procedures. Will work directly with the COO to improve purchasing processes and efficiency.

Skills required:

o Coordination – Adjusting in relation to others’ actions. Coordinate all purchasing department tasks, including negotiation with distributors and
direct vendor representatives and coordinate and execute special projects for purchasing department.
o Active Listening – Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as
appropriate and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
o Speaking – Talking to others to convey information effectively.
o Critical Thinking – Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weakness of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to
problems.
o Persuasion – Persuading others to change their mind or behavior.
o Negotiation – Bringing others together and trying to reconcile differences. Act as a liaison between purchasing department and other departments.
o Social Perceptiveness – Being aware of others’ reactions and understanding why they react the way they do.
o Time Management – Managing one’s own time and the time of others.
o Management of Personnel Resources – Motivating, developing and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job.
o Judgment and Decision Making – Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
o Reading Comprehension – Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
o Monitoring – Monitoring/Accessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective actions.
o Writing – Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
o Service Orientation – Actively looking for ways to help people.
o Instructing – Teaching others how to do something.
o Active Learning – Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
o Learning Strategies – Selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching
new things.
o Management of Financial Resources – Determining how money will be spent to get the work done, accounting for these expenditures.
o Systems Analysis – Determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
o Complex Problem Solving – Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement            
solutions.
o Systems Evaluations – Identifying measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative
to the goals of the system.
o Management of Material Resources – Obtaining and seeing to the appropriate use of equipment, facilities and materials needed to do certain work.
o Mathematics – Using mathematics to solve problems.
o Quality Control Analysis – Conducting tests and product requirements to create a design.
