Damn it, Jim — I’m a doctor, not a teenage super hero!
Brian K. Vaughan will join us tomorrow to sign Saga #1, his new title from Image! Justice League and Batman #7 are due next week, as is the finale to IDW’s Star Trek/Legion of Superheroes story, the start of the next big Spider-Man event, and all the while John Carter faces the deadliest battle of his life against a foe he could not have anticipated…the box office!
Big week for the New 52:
Justice League #7: the team is complete and we shift to the present day league, and much has changed, including the artist! Geoff John’s writes, with art by Gene Ha, and cover by Jim Lee. Also in this issue: “The Curse of Shazam” by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank. Batman survived the Court of Owl’s first strike–just barely–but even as he recuperates, the Court is preparing its most deadly attack yet, in Batman #7 by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo. Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang serve up Wonder Woman #7, and there are 12 New 52 titles in all next week! If you still need some direction, look to Midtown bloggerino Raph for his analysis of the New 52 so far!
Legion of Superheroes and Star Trek:
Beam us back to the future for a double whammy for the Legion this week, as the gang faces an ecological disaster of 31st century proportions in Legion of Superheroes #7, by Paul Levitz and Francis Portela. In the final chapter of the epic crossover with IDW, the Legion, along with Captain Kirk and the rest of the gang are confronted with the powerful forces that have unwritten their respective histories in Star Trek Legion of Superheroes #6, by Chris Roberson, Jeffrey Moy, and Philip Moy, with an awesome cover by Phil Jimenez!

See John Carter!
As a fan of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ novel, I enjoyed John Carter tremendously. It has charm aplenty, marvelous action sequences, the lovely Dejah Thoris, and captures the essence of its source material, so ignore the 50% of critics who panned it (the other 50% liked it). Besides, after seeing this one, I REALLY want to see a sequel! New from Marvel Comics, comes John Carter Gods of Mars #1 which pits Carter against the Martian gods, after having faced Martian beasts of all sizes and shapes. Also, check out the great comics and graphic novels from Dynamite Entertainment, Marvel Comics, and more plus great , back issues, and the original novels including A Princess of Mars, with a cool cover by Dave Cockrum.

Comic New York: Event at Columbia University
Comic New York is a symposium that will bring together creators and academics to discuss the intertwined histories of American comics and the town where they were born: New York City. In addition, in honor of Chris Claremont’s recent donation of his archives to Columbia’s Rare Book and Manuscript Library, the keynote will feature Claremont in conversation with his long-time editor, Louise Simonson. Join Al Jaffee, Paul Levitz, Peter Kuper, Denis Kitchen, Dean Haspiel, Danny Fingeroth, Irwin Hasen, and other iconic NYC based comic creators at Comic New York.
Columbia University, Saturday and Sunday, March 24 and 25, 2012.
Meet Stan Lee at the New York Comic Book Marketplace!
Have you gone into withdrawal since last October’s New York Comic Con? Do you need to fill your con fix? Look no further than Mike Carbo’s New York Comic Book Marketplace, and head to the Penn Plaza Pavilion at the Hotel Pennsylvania on Saturday, March 31st. The one and only Stan the Man Lee will be there along with tons of other great comics talent and TV personalities!
Jean Giraud, the beloved French comic artist most often known as Moebius, has passed away in Paris, at age 73, following a long illness. Although he was better known in France for his work on strips like Fort Navajo and Blueberry, he’s best known in the U.S. as Stan Lee’s collaborator on the Silver Surfer in the 1980s. Our friends at Comic Book Resources have more to talk about.
Thor and Gerry G., aka G-Man

You ask and you shall receive! I took a long look at a list I was handed the other day. The list was generated from what customers (insert your name here) wanted to see more of on our site. This week in our over 5,000 comic upload we put in what you wanted! One of the things people want to see more of is kids books, which are very hard to find in good shape from any era. These books are geared for kids read by kids and are usually tossed out. So getting back issues of a run of Batman Adventures in good shape is not easy. Did you know that a lot of the books geared toward kids gave some artists and writers their first break into comics? Mark Miller did a run on Adventures of Superman for example. Check out the list below and see if what you wanted to see more of made the list!
We buy comics, graphic novels and collectibles! If you’ve got books you want to sell, e-mail me!
