While back East for my dentist’s STAR WARS themed wedding (not kidding), I was able to catch up with Mez and he was nice enough to give AFJ & MIDTOWN COMICS an exclusive interview about his company’s flagship line of action figures. Not only is he an incredibly knowledgeable guy, Mez is exactly what this industry needs–someone that truly gives a damn what you guys are spending your hard earned cash on and wants to make the best possible product. There was no MEZCO before this Mez which means that he is an entrepreneur that took a chance on himself and believing in something he loved could become a career. Now he is at the top of his game and the talk of the toy world. Never underestimate a kid from NYC with a dream.

When I receive messages from new Junkies asking what action figure line is a good one to start with, I have found that I am always pointing them to Diamond Select Toys’ Marvel Select line. Why? You simply cannot get more bang for your hard earned buck. DST’s signature oversized library book spine packaging (amazingly helpful for storage) and some of the best sculpts in this price range make the Marvel Select line a must have for collectors. But here’s the kicker: most of them are just $25 on MidtownComics.com making them the ultimate starter kit figures for the “Make Mine Marvel” crowd that is looking for a little something extra in their Select choice.

“May the Force be….”, you know the rest. Everyone knows the rest. My mother knows the rest of that sentence and she thinks Jedi and Sith are foreign spices in her ethnic food cabinet. Despite a ten year drought of a Star Wars film, the franchise has been more ubiquitous than ever. Even though there has been no feature film, there has been the TV hits Clone Wars and more recently, Star Wars Rebels which is just now hitting its stride as Episode VII looms just a month away from multiplexes. Just a few weeks ago after Episode VII’s newest trailer, ticket sales on sites like Fandango shut down because Star Wars was literally breaking the Internet.
