2016: The year Gregg Katzman spent way too much time thinking about BvS

2016: The year Gregg Katzman spent way too much time thinking about BvS

Movies play a huge role in my life. I remember being afraid as I watched the first ant scene in Honey, I Shrunk The Kids when I was just four years old, and I remember the excitement of watching the Ninja Turtles take on the Foot Clan when I was six. Whether a film turns out to be a personal favorite or a disappointment, it has the potential to stick with you for the rest of your life. After all, you’re dedicating around an hour and a half to two hours or so of your time to focus solely on a single story. It has your complete attention and you’re investing time in it – not only the time you spend watching the movie, but often the countless hours you’ll spend thinking about it afterwards. One of the worst things a movie can be is forgettable. Love or hate it, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is by no means forgettable. Now that we’re in 2017, I want to share just how much my thoughts have evolved on one of 2016’s biggest comic book movies.

GET READY FOR THE 4th QUARTER!

Can you believe that the Summer is just about over? By the time the first day of school rolls around, the big box chains will already have the Halloween banners up. We cannot get a rest! I say we just whittle it down to two seasons: warm & cold. DONE!

However in the toy world, the fourth quarter means holidays, and holidays means shopping. Lots of shopping, which means that the big toy companies (and the little guys as well) are going to spare no expense as to what Junkies should keep their eyes peeled for once the leaves start to change and the flurries begin. Here are some of the coolest items that I have had my eye on all summer because we are always looking out for you toy Junkies that happen to be rabid Wednesday comic book pull-list cowboys and girls. Take a Fall trip to one of Midtown Comics’ three NYC locations for these upcoming goodies because nothing beats NYC in Autumn.

In the blue corner, we have the Last Son of Krypton: Superman! And lurking over in the shadows, we have the Dark Knight: Batman! Everyone knows the Man of Steel is way more powerful than the Caped Crusader, but despite being just a human, Batman should never be underestimated! Thanks to his resources and brilliant mind, Gotham’s hero was able to build a suit that allowed him to take strikes from the immensely strong Kryptonian. This suit first appeared in Frank Miller’s iconic comic The Dark Knight Returns, and it recently made its big screen debut in Batman v Superman. Now, this ridiculously cool-looking armored Batman can make an appearance right in your collection!
