Suicide Squad movie

Article by Gregg Katzman

Most comic book movies follow a hero – or anti-hero’s – struggle against a big bad. That isn’t the case in David Ayer’s upcoming DC movie, Suicide Squad. Instead of revolving around a good person’s struggle – or at least someone trying to be good – the movie will feature a group of dangerous villains who are now working for the U.S. government. It’s a story that’s full of twisted characters and the first trailer had quite a dark atmosphere – there’s no sunshine and flowers here, just bad people and even worse people. Given the violent characters and the bleak nature of the story, many fans were wondering if Suicide Squad would be the first movie in the evergrowing DC Extended Universe to earn an R rating. Batman TMNT Kevin Eastman

Article by Gregg Katzman

Batman and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have been incredibly popular for decades now. But Batman and the Ninja Turtles teaming-up? It seemed like a crossover that would be limited to a fan’s imagination. Now, DC and IDW Publishing have joined forces to make this dream come true. The Ninja Turtles – along with Shredder and the Foot Clan – find themselves in the concrete jungle that the Dark Knight has sworn to protect: Gotham City. What will it be like when these two sides meet? Which of Gotham’s heroes and villains will show up, and how will they play a role? Can the Ninja Turtles keep up with the Caped Crusader? The Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles limited series will go on sale December 9, and we were lucky enough to read the debut issue a little early. Thankfully, the issue lived up to the hype, and we want to tell you why it’s worth picking up! Don’t worry, this article is SPOILER-FREE!

Batman v Superman Captain America Civil War

By Gregg Katzman

Welcome to the very first edition of the Midtown Comics Clash! For our first question, we wanted to know which big 2016 comic book movie fans are more excited to see: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice or Captain America: Civil War?  While the two movies do have some obvious parallels (e.g. heroes fighting over ideologies; introduction of new heroes), these two movies look like they’ll also be very, very different. The Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DC Extended Universe are at totally different stages, and both are setting out to accomplish completely different things with these blockbuster movies. Obviously, Marvel Studios and Warner Bros./DC are going for very different tones with these two films and there’s sure to be plenty of other differences, but if you had to pick one of them, which one would it be? Before revealing the poll’s current status, we thought it would be fun to ask this question to the staff in our Times Square store. Spoiler alert: one movie receives way more love.
