New York, NY, December 20, 2011- Midtown Comics in New York City will present Danny Fingeroth and Dennis O’Neil signing The Stan Lee Universe at Midtown Comics Downtown on Thursday, December 22nd from 6:00PM to 7:00PM.
DANNY FINGEROTH, co-editor of The Stan Lee Universe, has known and worked with Lee for many years. He spent a week at Stan’s archives at the University of Wyoming, where he found many of the rarities contained in the book. Danny is Senior Vice President of Education at SoHo’s Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art (MoCCA), where he co-curated exhibitions of the work of Al Jaffee and Will Eisner. He was Group Editor of Marvel’s Spider-Man line and has written many comics featuring characters including, Spider-Man, Superman, Iron Man, and Darkhawk. Danny is the author of Superman on the Couch: What Superheroes Really Tell Us About Ourselves and Our Society; Disguised as Clark Kent: Jews, Comics, and the Creation of the Superhero; and The Rough Guide to Graphic Novels.
DENNIS O’NEIL, one of comics’ most acclaimed writers, worked briefly in journalism, then moved to New York and comics. He became one of Stan Lee’s earliest writers and editors in the Marvel of the mid-’60s, and worked closely with Stan and Stan Lee Universe co-editor Roy Thomas for a short but intense period. Moving to DC, Denny brought social consciousness to the medium with the groundbreaking Green Lantern/Green Arrow series. His work on Batman – as writer and editor – returned that character to its dark, gothic roots. An interview with Denny about his days working with Stan is featured in The Stan Lee Universe.
