The Walking Dead Rick Carl Grimes comic

Article by Gregg Katzman

The latest episode of The Walking Dead, ‘Heads Up’, set the stage for season 6’s midseason finale while also answering whether or not Glenn was still alive. Towards the end of the episode, there’s a bit of hope on the horizon, and that’s something the residents of Alexandria desperately need. But it just wouldn’t be The Walking Dead without having a moment of optimism completely destroyed by something terrible, would it? We’re all speculating about what’ll happen next (especially with the Wolf…), but one huge moment from the comic was heavily teased. If you haven’t read Robert Kirkman’s comic book series (fix that mistake asap, please), this would be a great time for you to back out this article. Unless you don’t mind a possible spoiler, that is. Seriously, consider yourself warned: there’s SPOILERS AHEAD!

Issue #1 of Outcast — the newest comic by Walking Dead superstar writer Robert Kirkman — hit shelves this week, and if it’s anything like his zombie epic, we’re in for one hell of a ride.

Kirkman, in addition to being a writer, is one of five partners at Image Comics, one of the leading indie comic publishers in the industry. Despite being the only partner who’s not a co-founder, it hasn’t stopped him from becoming something of a poster child for the company—his flagship comic series is on its whopping 129th issue and has spawned one of the highest rated cable TV dramas. It’s kind of tough to top that.

But Image has been changing the comics industry long before Walking Dead was ever a thing.

Midtown Bloggerinos! Raph here, and with the hot temperatures here, that means it’s blockbuster season! With movies like Iron Man 3, Star Trek: Into Darkness, Fast 6, and the upcoming Man of Steel, Hollywood is preparing for a season of big explosions, but comics also are about to get things going: between Superman Unchained, Trinity War, Infinity, the next chapter of Saga, and many others, there’s lots of action to pack into those 22 pages of comic. Here are some of my favorite action-adventures from recent memory. They are all collected into trade paperbacks or are original graphic novels, so you can get all your bang in one space.
