Welcome back to an extra-extatified week of comic book excitement!

We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Black Friday was a manic madhouse at Midtown, especially at our Times Square store, where we opened at midnight and stayed open all night, through all day Black Friday! We had a huge turnout, and naturally everyone behaved themselves in a nice, orderly fashion, with no stampedes (maybe because we don’t sell waffle irons?)!

Due to a confluence of confounding causes, we are experiencing minor shipping delays this week. A huge number of orders from our Black Friday sale, combined with great demand for Marvel NOW! titles, DC’s DOTF, new Previews, etc, all occurring within one week, have caused our mighty shipping department to fall just a bit behind schedule. Please accept our apologies, we expect to be back on track by Monday!

Holiday season shipping alert:
‘Tis the season to shop late and request expedited shipping, so please — plan ahead and allow ample time for delivery for holiday gift orders. Please refer to our holiday shipping schedule here.

Avengers #1 and the exclusive Midtown cover:

Marvel NOW! hits its stride next week as the greatest heroes in comics join forces in one unbeatable team in Avengers #1 by Jonathan Hickman, Jerome Opena, and Dustin Weaver! Now twice a month, the Avengers “go large,” expanding their roster and their sphere of influence to a global and even interplanetary level. Avengers #1 completes the set of three Midtown exclusive interconnecting Marvel NOW! covers by J. Scott Campbell…but fear not, he’s not done with us yet! Check out his two new Spidey covers for us (below)! Marvel now can be a lot to digest, so let Midtown bloggerino Raphael break it down for you, issue by issue! Marvel NOW! Up to Now part one, and Marvel NOW! Up to Now part two. Warning: there are some minor spoilers.

J. Scott Campbell—Midtown exclusive Spider-Man covers coming soon:
Hot on the heels of Midtown’s exclusive three connecting Marvel NOW! covers, J. Scott Campbell is busy at the drawing table illustrating a Midtown exclusive connecting cover set for Amazing Spider-Man #700 and Superior Spider-Man #1, both available for pre-order. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter, and we will keep you updated on the progress of these covers. We suggest that you pre-order now, or there may be no soup for you!

Spidey fans MUST READ THIS:

We hate to be bossy, but if ever there was a “must read” Spider-Man issue, THIS IS IT! Amazing Spider-Man #699 turns over all the cards and reveals secrets that have been set as far back as “Ends of the Earth”, “Spider Island”, and 99 issues ago in ASM #600! Doc Ock has hours left to live, and knows Peter Parker’s secret (revealed in ASM #698). Ock has no master plan — all he wants is vengeance, as he calls on Spidey foes like the Lizard, the Spider-Slayer, Morbius the Living Vampire, and more! The art is by Humberto Ramos, Paolo Rivera weaved the cover, and Dan Slott spun the story (that we’ll apparently hate him for after ASM #700).

There are lots of goodies from Marvel Comics next week, including Avengers X-Sanction TP which started the road to Avengers vs. X-Men, by Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness!

Batman and Superman:
It’s gonna be a good week for fans of the bat next week — but for the Batman family, maybe not so much! Detective Comics #15, by John Layman, Jason Fabok, and Andy Clarke will feature the ever-popular Joker mask over-cover! Though it’s not part of DOTF, Legends of the Dark Knight #3 arrives from horror-scribe fave Steve Niles, with art by Trevor Hairsine. Grant Morrison and Sholly Fisch continue their unique take on the Man of Steel, as Superman is on trial for his life — and the jury is the Anti-Superman Army! The ultimate villains spring the ultimate trap at the end of time itself, in Action Comics #15, with art by Rags Morales! There’s lots more from DC Comics next week!

DC Comics Super Heroes Supergirl bust:
Rocketing straight from Krypton is this beautiful new bust featuring Supergirl! Complete with a hot new costume, this hand-painted cold-cast porcelain DC Comics Super Heroes Supergirl bust measures approximately 6″ high x 4″ wide x 6.75″ deep, and is sculpted by Jim Maddox.

Justice League of America #1– Save BIG on all 53 flag covers, coming February 6:

Geoff Johns and David Finch present Justice League of America #1, which pays tribute to the USA with 53 flag covers! All covers feature the same great art by Finch with alternate flag art: 1 cover featuring the US flag, 1 for each state flag, plus Puerto Rico and Washington, DC. The covers are available individually at $3.99 each, or as a shrink-wrapped pack set for a mere $149.99! Let’s illustrate your savings: At $3.99 each, this set of all covers would normally cost $211.47, but if you pre-order the set now, your cost is ONLY $97.49 from your friends at Midtown Comics! That’s a savings of 53% off cover price! If you’d like to pre-order just one, or a few, you’ll still save big with 35% off cover price.

Hellboy returns along with a whole House of Fun from Dark Horse!
Mike Mignola returns to draw Hellboy’s ongoing story in Hellboy In Hell #1 for the first time since Conqueror Worm. Evan Dorkin’s sick and twisted sense of humor unleashes itself in the House Of Fun one-shot with a new Murder Family episode, multiple pages of Fun gag strips, and the return of The Eltingville Comic Book, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, and Role-Playing Club — plus new Milk and Cheese strips.
