Midtownies! Raph here, totally pumped after seeing Captain America: The Winter Soldier. My colleague Tom H has posted a review on the blog, which you can find here, so I won’t rehash what Tom’s already done. What I would like to do, is give a wishlist of movies and TV shows that I’d like to see Marvel Studios produce in the future, things that they haven’t announced or haven’t been speculated (I’m leaving Doctor Strange specifically out because I really think they’re going to do a movie for him in Phase 3). I also would like for all of this to be on Netflix, or something similar, as this will be a super-connected series. See what I suggest after the break.

SHE-HULK

I’d love for this to be a lawyer show with a superhero twist. David E. Kelly worked on a Wonder Woman pilot that ultimately failed, but maybe he could work his magic on Jennifer Walters? I would open the series with Jen trying to take down a corporation with ties to a new splintered off AIM. AIM will have survived the death of Aldritch Killian to become a consortium of amoral scientists. These scientists will create products and conduct experiments that harm innocent people, and Jen will represent their victims in a class action suit. In the opening episode, AIM will try and have her killed, and while she lies in the hospital in critical condition, a brief cameo from cousin Bruce Banner to give her a blood transfusion will allow her to become She-Hulk. Jen can spend the rest of the series going after AIM, and then bump into…

PUNISHER

I’d like for this series/movie to take place in the middle of Frank’s career, with him as an established killer of mobsters, with occasional flashbacks to his past family life. The various mobs and gangsters would then be looking to get some kind of advantage, enter: AIM. AIM’s new weaponry will devastate the police, and put everyone around Frank Castle in danger. Frank would retaliate, stealing a weapons cache, and bringing hell to the gangsters. Right when he’s about to kill the mob leader, a flying sai would kill him. Punisher would find a note, which would lead to a meeting with…

ELEKTRA

Elektra would be a short series that shows her as the lead assassin of the Hand, as well as how she met Matt Murdock, and the circumstances that broke them apart. Elektra becomes suspicious of the elders, as recently, they have been taking out more visible targets, particularly in businesses. Elektra’s assassination of Andrew Forson, head of AIM, leads her to discover that a war is going on for control of the world between organizations since the (SPOILERS) downfall of SHIELD in Captain America: The Winter Soldier – AIM, the Hand, and the Ten Rings. Her discovery of this information makes her a marked woman, and she seeks out the enemies of her enemies… which leads her to…

MOON KNIGHT

Marc Spector survives an assassination attempt from the Hand, and his corporation avoids a hostile takeover from AIM. Spector is looking for answers, and he lets the Moon God Khonshu possess him to find them. Moon Knight rips his way through various installations around the world, only to be eventually caught by the Ten Rings. Spector is tortured, but eventually saved by Nick Fury, who asks him to help recruit a group of talented individuals, but as a group of covert ops agents, not Avengers. His first target for recruitment is Elektra, and along with the Punisher and She-Hulk they become…

SECRET WARRIORS

The opening of the movie/series starts goes back to Marc Spector in Elektra recruiting her to the cause. Electra agrees cautiously. Electra then is sent to retrieve the Punisher. Punisher himself is then sent to retrieve Jennifer Walters, but the team comes together, because She-Hulk is still unstable. As the team tries to undercover the leading players of these three villainous organizations, they come across agents with powers: Whirlwind, Grey Gargoyle and other Iron Man related villains. The team will meet the actual Mandarin, and basically lose badly, only to be saved by Tony Stark, which leads to…

IRON MAN AND THE SECRET AVENGERS

Tony Stark has been haunted by the Mandarin since the beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it’s time for a reckoning. Even Tony’s technology, however, isn’t enough to face the power of Mandarin. In critical condition, we bid farewell to Robert Downey Jr., as he injects himself with Extremis 2.0, which he’s been working on in secret. The Extremis rewrites Tony’s DNA, and also remakes his face (call it vanity), and we have our new Tony Stark/Iron Man. At this point, we can introduce the Mark LXII or whatever  number they’re up to: the Matt Fraction Bleeding Edge armor. The new team, under the direction of Nick Fury and with new recruit Air Force Captain Carol Danvers, will strike back at the Ten Rings, and end the threat of the real Mandarin. This allows us to continue the Iron Man franchise, as well as introduce new heroes to the Avengers, or even create a Secret Avengers series.

And that’s my wild, crazy ambitious idea, I doubt Marvel would do something like this, but it’s fun to speculate. What characters do you want to introduce, and what would they bring to the mix? How would you present it, on TV? Netflix? Movie theaters? Leave a comment and let’s talk about the future of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe.
