With Netflix’s Daredevil series debut just a week away, you don’t need to have enhanced senses to feel the excitement in the air. Will it live up to high expectations set by the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Who knows, but you count me among the optimistic hopefuls who will wait for the finished product before doling out my share of praise or scorn. Undoubtedly, the Affleck starring film left a bad taste in many fan’s mouths, but the Netflix series promises to be an entirely different animal. The format will allow for more time to introduce characters and tell a story better than the attempt to cram everything and the kitchen sink into a 2 hour feature. I’m hoping the ties to the Marvel films are more overt than the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. have been (until recently, anyway), and that the venue will allow for an appropriate level of gritty subject matter. As we count down the days to the binge-watching debut, I recommend some serious binge-reading from the Man Without Fear’s back catalogue of back issues. There’s lots of good stuff out there, so dig in…

Marvel Entertainment is going to conquer the world… the entertainment world, that is. Between the movies, cartoons and comics, Marvel pretty much controls a large portion of the entertainment market.

Then Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. debuted, and while the series has been unsteady, it’s another finger in another pie for Marvel.
